After always wanting a Border Collie, I finally got my wish in the shape of Sam in 1998. A very good-natured boy, he took easily to basic obedience, but I quickly found that the training school preferred harsh punishment as their training method. Luckily it was not an issue in that Sam did not need any corrections, but we started looking around for a training school that used positive reinforcement instead. I came across Kay and Robin's Obedience School and then moved into their agility training in 2000.

Sam and I did a few competitions over the next few years, managing to win out at our first show with a 3rd in Elementary Agility. Star a brown tri-colour BC came along in 2004 and it was alwyas my intention to do agility with her. However two very difficult pregnancies left me in a wheelchair for a time, plus abdominal surgery for Sam and later his arthritis, has meant we have not competed for a while. We concentrated on Kennel Club Good Citizen training gaining our Gold Certificate and I also started teaching puppy obedience for Pads.

2011 will be the year for Star to come out (I hope). I'm now mobile again and although it's a little late on, Star shows no signs of slowing down. I just hope I can keep up.... or at least steer her!

Outside of agility, my huband Shaun and I both work as nurses, alternating shifts to lok after our two boys of 5 and 3. I am also training as a breastfeeding counsellor and I love photography.
